Remembering Our Troops

Today we are remembering all the brave men and women who gave their lives for all of us.  We just did a white dove release at the village cemetery, and my heart swelled with gratefullness and pride for our country as I watched these birds return home to me...to their family...something those troops could not do.  May we never, ever forget their sacrifice.  How beautiful to witness the return of these doves of peace, and to think about all they symbolize!

Thank you Lord, for our freedom...in the blessed Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Blessed Memorial Day Weekend~

Good morning!

My goodness!  I've been busier than a one-armed paper hanger lately!  All four litters have been spoken for, and I am thankful to the good Lord for that!  Each and every family is absolutely wonderful and each little puppy will bring much joy into his or her new home.
Today begins the white dove release season for 2010, and we have our first wedding in south Buffalo.
I also need to get the first haircuts complete and pictures taken of Daisy's litter today.   The faster I go, the more behind I get!!!  LOLOL
I want to wish you all a blessed Memorial Day weekend.  May we all remember our troops and may you all be surrounded by family and friends.   Give each other a hug, and cherish each moment together.

With much love,

Sue

More on Snowy's Litter~

Rio and Snowy had a beautiful litter of puppies
 on Monday, May 24th.

Snowy's puppies have now all been spoken for.
We have two more litters on the way, Lord willing.
Please watch my Upcoming Litters page for updates.
Thank you for your interest.  I hope I will be able to welcome you into our High Calling Cocker Family soon!

Evening Prayer~
Someone has said that if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless.

Did you know that during WWII there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace?

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America . If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (7:00 PM Mountain) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation. If you know anyone else who would like to participate, please pass this along. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.

Natalie and Chloe from Monson, Massachusetts~

Hello Sue.

I'm sending you a few pictures of the girls. Some of them are from Mothers Day, and the last three are when Kim stopped after picking up the girls from Roses. They look so cute with their new hair cuts.

Of course you can see how they are spoiled by papa always being for treats.

Next week they will be coming to grandma's for a little vacation while Mike and Kim go to a wedding on the Cape. You can bet they will be spoiled. This will be the first time we have both of them. I hope Natalie will not be jealous when she has to share the attention.

I was so happy to see the three little girls on you web site they are so cute. Good luck with them.

Thinking of you all the time and the little ones.

Betsy from the Upper Peninsula, Michigan~

Hello Mama Sue,

It's me Kathleen Mavourneen...better known to everyone as BETSY! Mama Sharon & Daddy Syd call me Betsy Wetsy....but honest Mama Sue, I am doing better at the Wetsy part! I am a whole eight months old in 3 days....whatever that means! It must be sompin' good cause humanbeans like to love on me! I am almost 13 pounds now, but my friend Dr. Tim says I might stay on the small side....but he says I have a BIG attitude to make up for it....what's an addy-toot anyway, do you know?

Anyway, I wanted you to know I love my new home and guess I will stay here. My big sister Bonny is getting to like me better now that I am growin' up some, and she lets me kiss her face...but she can still be grumpy at me sometimes. Mama Sharon says we have ta work on my barkin' at people and stuff, but sometimes I get scared at stuff cause I don't know what it is and all, and I just HAVE to bark at it....but daddy Syd says I am doing better, and my sister Bonny helps me to know everything is all right. Daddy Syd loves the way I trot, he says that's where my addy-toot comes out the most!

Tell my mommy dog Starr that I am fine, and daddy dog Tic Tac too....I miss them, but not too much cause I love my toys best of anything! Here is my newest picture for ya.....I gotta go and get an apple peel from Mama Sharon fore that ole Bonny gets 'em all! I send you sloppy Betsy Wetsy kisses....bye bye.

Drummer from Grand Junction, Colorado~

Hi, Sue!

I just wanted to share some pictures of Drummer.
As I mentioned in my other
email, he just had his "Little Boy" surgery and is recuperating. They gave him
a soft cone (instead of the stiff plastic one) to keep him from licking his
incision. We tried using it in the usual position, but it really bugged him.

So Glenn pushed it the opposite direction,
which makes it look like a collar. It serves the same purpose and Drummer is
more content with it like that. We think that he looks like one of the
Muskateers and call him "Drum-tagnan" (instead of "D'Artagnan"). He just needs
a plumed hat and a sword to complete the ensemble! LOL!

Drummer is feeling much better today. In fact, I'm having a hard time keeping
him "quiet" (as if that's even POSSIBLE with a 7 month old puppy!). I can tell
that he's far more comfortable now.

The picture of Drummer in our yard was taken a month ago. He's sure growing up
and is quite the handsome fella! We love him SOOOO much!

Thanks for such a wonderful dog!
Big Hugs (from me) and Sloppy Wet Kisses (from Drummer)!
Mary :o)

"Gracie" is retired and living in Tennessee~ God bless her!

Hello Sue:

Well, FINALLY, I've got pictures to send to you of Gracie. She is the sweetest little dog we have ever had. We love her to bits!!!

Things have been quite busy at our house so today I told Dave we MUST stop a minute and take a picture of Gracie for Mama Sue. Kim and Michael also want to see her. The last pictures we took were at Christmas when we first got her. We will try to send you more pictures. She just loves running after the ball so I'll try to get a shot of her doing that for you. It is really cute.

Thanks again for Gracie!!

Our best wishes to you and your family.

Love and appreciation,

Dave, Dottie and Gracie aka Princess Grace! :)

"Shiloh" from Syracuse, New York~

Dearest Susan,

I just wanted to let you know that Shiloh continues to be a blessing in my life. He is growing up to be such an amazing dog...smart, silly, loyal and adorable! He completed his basic obedience class awhile ago and is now enrolled in an AKC Canine Good Citizen class. The trainer, who is also an AKC evaluator, believes that his disposition and intelligence lend themselves to future work as a therapy dog. And the joke in the class is that he is a therapist for other dogs. Several of the dogs in his classes have been rescued and thus have some inherent fears. Shiloh seems to be able to be a friend to all and even the most fearful of dogs are comfortable with him. He is even winning over the affections of his older brother Shadow (Shiloh and Hershey have been friends from the beginning). Shadow is terribly jealous of him and it has taken awhile for him to accept Shiloh as part of the pack. As you can see from the attached pictures, Shiloh is also a bit of a goof ball.

He loves to play, find mischief and most recently, dig holes in my back yard! He simply is an amazing dog and I love him dearly.

Thank you for all that you do to bring such wonderful pets into the world. God Bless-Laura

Abby from Williamsville, New York~

To all the teacher's out there - it can happen! The old chestnut of the "dog ate my homework" almost came true at our house, with a slight twist. Abby, in her constantly chewing on anything and everything mode didn't chew Alexa's homework, she chewed MY computer! Late last night I was sitting on the couch doing I don't know what on the laptop we use downstairs and I had to run to the bathroom. I came back into the family room and the laptop had been dragged off the couch turned upside down and Abby was happily chewing on the letter "G". She had also managed to pry off at least four other keys and had 6-10 more off kilter. I'm so glad I got the full warranty and service package with this puppy, er computer

I ran over to Best Buy this morning, computer in tow and sheepishly told the Geek Squad - "The dog ate it..."

Abby says "Hello" as she is rummaging through my room and under my feet as I type trying to get into trouble!

All the best, Donna

Abby from Williamsville, New York~

Susan, it's been a long while since I've posted to you about Abby. That's not to say Abby hasn't been posted about, photographed, scrapbooked, grown, and loved! She is notorious about NOT having her picture taken! Every time I get a really cute moment, camera in hand ready to shoot - she moves, turns away, sniffs the camera and ruins the shot. I had a few older photos I attached to this e-mail. Not sure exactly what they are of, but I think they are of Abby at Christmas.

Abby just passed her first birthday and as a present - she was spayed! I know, couldn't we have timed this better! She did fine, had a chip implanted and was her rambunctious self within a day or so.

Since she came home to us she had been confined to our main living area, the family room, the kitchen and the Florida room, which is also her exit to the backyard. We had gates up barring her from the upstairs and the living room. Well, little puppies will grow and get stronger so we decided to open the rest of the house to her to have a free-range dog. We're still making adjustments and she is like a tornado going from room to room - frustrated by closed doors, but just zooming all around the house!

My mother-in-law just adores Abby! Almost every week she brings home another toy, stuffed animal, or treat for Abby. They have a love fest as my mother-in-law calls it when the two of them are alone.

Abby has discovered, among other things, her voice, a love of all things tissue related, socks and the ultimate play/danger zone - her teenage sister's room! We've resorted to putting the gate on Alexa's room because Abby won't stay out of it and Alexa won't clean it! There is no winning with our girls (except every day!)

I kept tabs on Abby's puppy mom Jingles, looking forward to her next litter. Congratulations on her little girls! There are days that Abby looks so much like her puppy mom. The other day she was sitting in her crate with one paw hanging out and her head up and she looked just like the Jingles picture on the web site!

I still check out the High Calling Blog and your web site on a regular basis, not only following the dogs but your family. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments and milestones. You have a lovely family. Take care and stay well.

Yours truly, Donna, Norman, Alexa and Abby

Thank you, Soldiers!

After all the bad press over a few teachers who stepped out of line teaching songs to our children, this one is one you will be so proud to hear. At the end of the song you can order the sheet music.

Awesome. I hope this sweeps our country and gets sung in all our schools. The music teacher wrote the song and had all the third graders sing.

Enjoy -- great message.

Sophie & Katie from Forty Fort, Pennsylvania~

Being loved by a cocker just makes my day!!!

(This is Sophie.  Katie was there too, but wouldn't lift her head off my lap. )

Every time I meet someone who knows a bit about Cockers, always has to comment on how beautiful and well-bred they are. Great Job, Momma Sue!!!

Holly from the Adirondack Mountains, New York~

Holly can't help but strike a pose when something captures her attention.

She was shaved down yesterday for the summer season.

Annie is a little Yorkie that belongs to some of the antique dealers

who are in my shop. They have been bringing Annie along with them to work

and the two "girls" have been having a wonderful time together!

It is hard to get a good pic of them....they don't exactly "pose" for the camera!

Snowball belongs to my landlord and in the

evening after business hours, we fence off the property

and let the dogs out to run and play. Here Holly is leading

the pack .... there are actually five Pekingese in the

family. Holly is certainly getting her puppy socialization and

exercise!!!

Paul is my business partner and owner of these five

Pekingese - they are great pals of Holly .

Bonny and Betsy from the Upper Peninsula, Florida~

Hi Mama Sue.......it's your peanut....member me? Bonny? Guess you should cause I was one of your cutest babies! Guess what Mama Sue, me and Betsy, member her?, well anyway, me and Betsy got to go with mama Sharon and daddy Syd to a special place called Flori-DA! This place smells different than our place here in the UP....kinda smells like orange, flowers, sand and smells hot!

We went to a big place with lots of big scary house-boxes on tires...everything smelled like hot rubber tires, grease and hot cement! That hot cement hurt our pads, but our folks kept us in the place called a dealership waiting room. The humans there loved on us, gave us cookies and bottled cold water to drink. We sat with our folks and watched TV while their house-box (daddy Syd calls this an RV) got ready for us to take and live in while we go down the road.

We got to visit some neat places in this place called Flori-Da......this is me and daddy Syd and our house on tires...

That water behind our house is called the Gulf of Mexico. I got to wade in it, but it tasted yucky and had critters in it the man called lobsters, they was ugly! Betsy waded in the water too, but she liked it. We both got dumb ole sand burrs in our hair and didn't like having them taken out neither!!

We liked watching the big fat ole Pely-kin sittin on the pier....Betsy would bark and chase him away until daddy Syd scolded her for doin it! I liked that place called Flori-Da and want to go back and chase them ugly lobsters!

And guess what Mama Sue? We rode in our funny house right through the mountains....man that was cool, big holes in the mountain and it would swallow up our rolling house....it would get all dark inside and dumb ole Betsy would get scared, but not me....er, at least not too much! Our ears would feel funny when we was up in them mountains and I would sneeze lots to make the funny feeling go away!

Then we came back to our real house here in the UP, and we are glad to be home! We went out in the yard and ran & ran....yippeeeeeee! Okay, now I gotta go and eat my supper. I hope you and that Mike guy are bein' good. Mama Sharon says for me to tell you that Betsy healed just fine from her surgery.....in spite of herself....she gets into more trouble Mama Sue....you just wouldn't believe it! I was never like that when I were a baby!!!

I love you Mama Sue.....please don't forget your peanut.......ME, Bonny Wee Lass

Bethany Willow going to NC as a therapy dog~

Hi Sue,

Bella and I just returned home after visiting everyone at the Nursing Center. Bella couldn't wait to see everyone! I took the photos of Bethany Willow for all to enjoy and it brought so much joy for them to see a baby puppy! They couldn't get enough of Bella and baby sister Bethany. Some of the residents told me they'd been praying for Bethany Willow before her birth! They knew the name I'd chosen, so they started praying for the soon to be new addition! They've been waiting eagerly to see the photos but they had her in their hearts and prayers. Bethany, at a week old is already ministering to the residents, just like big sister Bella. Just to see their faces and joy is amazing. They all tell me, "It makes my day when you come and when we see Bella!" They even told me, "The photos of baby Bethany makes them so happy I can hardly stand it!"

Just wanted to let you know. Much love to all as well as many prayers.

Cherrie' and Bella
