"Miss Bailey Glory" from Buffalo, New York~
Dearest Sue,
Alex, the kids and I hope you and Mike had a Blessed Easter surrounded by those you love. We had a very peaceful weekend to end a hectic week. Alex's car lease was up last Saturday and he's going to take some time to think about what he wants next. He's torn between a Rav 4 and a Tacoma. He loves to fish, so he wants something sturdier than a car for the back roads he takes to get to some of his favorite holes. It has been a big adjustment going to a one car family. I've been using my lunch hours to run errands that I used to run after work and I worry that something will happen if I decide to go see the folks in Albany for the weekend, leaving him with no way to get to the vet's. I will be glad when he makes a decision and we again have the security that two vehicles affords us.
I spent Saturday afternoon at my cousin's son's first birthday party. Unfortunately dinner ran late and I had to leave for the Easter Vigil Mass before cake was cut and served. It looked delicious, too... But Mass was sweet enough. While I belong to the Cathedral downtown, I always go to Easter Mass at Fourteen Holy Helpers in West Seneca. It's the closest thing I have to a family church here. My Aunt joined that church many, many years ago and I've attended all of her daughters' First Communions and weddings there, and now their kids' Baptisms and First Communions there. The choir is wonderful. The only thing I missed was that this year they didn't do "Where You There". They did it last year and it's my favorite Easter hymn. They did close the Mass with "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today", which is so uplifting and exactly the feeling I want to go home with. And while I was gone all day, Alex was giving Curley and Bailey Glory their Easter cuts. You should have seen my face when I walked back through the door...When I left I had a 10 month old puppy who looked like a 10 month old puppy, when I returned, I had a 10 month old puppy who looked like a very grown-up young lady. She is my little treasure, so petite and full of life and love-definitely what my two fuddy-duddies need in their golden years to keep them young at heart!
Easter Sunday was wonderful, despite the fact that rain moved in around 1:00. It gave the kids and I enough time to go for two nice walks around the neighborhood and Alex to go for his first bike ride of the season. We made a great breakfast and went out for a very nice dinner. It is the only day off that we have together all year that we save for ourselves and our kids. The other two are Thanksgiving, which I spend with my extended family in East Aurora, and Christmas, which we spend with my family in Albany. Hopefully Alex won't always have to work seven days a week. The restaurant business is a tough one to be in...
We are looking forward to warmer days ahead when we can take the kids back to the park. I cannot tell you how depressing it was to take Bailey for yet another walk in the snow this morning...
Love,
Sarah and Bailey Glory
