Mike and I waiting for David's arrival....in tears of joy! |
It was such an awesome ceremony! We heard sirens of the police escorting the long white buses carrying the soldiers arrival from the airport. They parked behind the trees where the men and women disembarked out of our view and got in formation. Then the band began to play and the soldiers marched onto the field, closer and closer to their families. There were "hoots" and "hollars" and tears everywhere. I was holding up David's sign...upside down. LOL Mike fixed that for me. LOL After a prayer by the chaplain, the National Anthem and a 2-3 minute welcoming home speech by the commandant, the crowd swarmed the soldiers with much love. It didn't take me more than about 30 seconds to find David. I spotted him walking "the other way" but recognized him from the back immediately. A mother knows her own child! Praise God! I yelled "DAVID!!!" and he recognized his mother's voice, even in all the noise of the moment. It was awesome, and God was so gracious bringing him home safely!
He flew home to NY two nights ago for his sister's wedding and is sleeping on my couch. Mama is happy to have her boy home. :")
