OK. I’ll try this again. I tried to send pictures yesterday, but I guess that
it didn’t go through.
I know that it’s been a long time since you heard from me. So sorry about
that! Life just has a way of taking over my time and people sometimes slip
through the cracks. I do watch your website and see all of the beautiful
puppies (always SOOO adorable!) and check the blog when I have the time
(congratulations to Jennifer and Dustin! – and the proud parents!).
Life has been full of “stuff”. It’s amazing how much time is eaten up by
normal everyday activities. Glenn has been busy in his bookkeeping business
(which is a good thing!). Tim (our son) is working for the Postal Service
running the big sorting machines. He works the night shift (11:00 PM to 7:00
AM - or later, if necessary), so he sleeps all day - which makes life
interesting here at home. I am doing my best to juggle my 3 boys (Drummer
included) and keep everything running smoothly. I have arthritis in my left
knee and I often have to use a cane when I walk, so that slows me down a
little bit but I seem to manage OK.
It has been hot and VERY dry here. We had a couple of wildfires on our side of
the state (nothing like the front range with Colorado Springs and Fort
Collins). We had to deal with smoke for a few days. It made it difficult to
run our cooler because the cooler draws in the outside air. It was pretty
putrid at times and we would have to turn off the cooler for a while until the
smoke eased up. That was concerning because it was 100+ degrees on those days
and we needed every bit of cool that we could get! Thankfully, it wasn’t for
very long and we would be able to turn it back on. It just took a bit of time
to get the smell out of the house. We did get a bit of rain over the weekend
(mostly in the mountains), so that helped with all of the fires. Of course,
lightning starts new ones, so there is always that concern when a storm moves
through.
Drummer is his fun-loving self! He’s such a joy and always brings a smile to
my face – even when I’m a bit grumpy. He knows where all of the cool spots are
in the house and hangs out there during the heat of the day. Playtime is a bit
restricted due to the heat, but he manages to sneak some in during the cooler
mornings and later evening hours. Since I can’t walk him right now (due to my
arthritis) I have to make sure he gets some kind of exercise. Playing with a
ball or Frisbee works really well!
I’ve attached a few pictures from this summer. One is of our neighbor’s
chickens – the photo shows Drummer’s first time seeing them.
I’m sending a second email with a couple of “beauty shots” that I managed to
get. He sure is a gorgeous dog! Thanks, Sue!
I trust that all is well with you and your family. There’s never a dull moment
at your house, I’m sure!
God Bless!
Hugs and Waves (and sloppy kisses from Mary’s Little Drummer Boy)!
