Hi Susan,
Holly has had a wonderful first day at Fallingneedles. She has gone potty "OUTSIDE"
all day long . Of course I'm watching her like a hawk and being very disciplined so as
soon as she drinks, eats, wakes, after play, when she's excited, etc...about every half hour. She has
not gone inside all day - at least not that I'm aware of...She is so smart - I am amazed.
She learned how to escape from her play-yard pen...and don't you know she tried to
do it over and over. She made her first "puppy bark" at me this afternoon - it was the cutest thing!
She has a designated area to potty that we fenced in the back of the house - I bring her there
constantly and within 2 minutes she usually does her duty -
as soon as she "GOES" there is praise ... and she looks at me and bounds back toward the door.
I really think she's going to do very, very well. However, I'm not getting unrealistic expectations
of her - she's just a little peanut!
I was a little concerned...she didn't eat well yesterday - ate something
in the middle of the night...didn't eat her food this morning but drank
the milk water - tonight she just chowed down and did great. We went for a
walk after her dinner and she was "A GOOD GIRL" . We've gone out on the leash
twice and only for about 100 yards and back - when we come inside she
bounds over to Terry and plays with his pant cuffs and bites at his shoes.
Then she's tuckered out and will take a nap.
She's learning the layout of the house although I do not give her free roam. She is in the kitchen
area with her blankets, papers, food, etc. As long as she sees me - she seems to do fine.
Once in a while she will realize I am gone and will cry - I come in and talk to her. I'm avoiding
picking her up when she wimpers - I don't want to start something that will be a difficult habit to break.
I need to get more sleep at night than I did last night.....
We absolutely love her! I've sent you a few action shots...I took 85 digital pics and only three turned out.
She so fast it's difficult to capture her in motion!
Just an update. I'm off to the Catholic Church in Peru for a Christmas Concert my friend and business partner
is singing in...he was with the Lake George Opera Co. for years and as a youth sang opera in a traveling troupe
throughout Europe....now he's doing a solo at the concert and I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Take care - and thank you - she's pretty darn close to perfect far as I can see!
