"Miss Bailey Glory" from Buffalo, New York - Part Two~

"Miss Bailey Glory" from Buffalo, New York~

Dearest Sue,

Your new house looks just perfect for you and Mike and I know you'll have it fixed up as you want it and feeling like home in no time. I spent many weeks in NC when my brother-in-law was stationed at Ft. Bragg and loved it there. Since I usually drove down, I was able to see much of the State and it's so pretty. I hope you will both be very happy there.

Things have been so busy here! I had about three weeks of peace and quiet after Chica was given the all-clear from her mass cell removal before the next crisis moved in. On April 22nd the bed bug sniffing Beagles returned and just our luck, the apartment above us has them. To prevent the spread, they are treating all the surrounding apartments. I don't know if any of your families have ever delt with this, but what a headache! I have become an expert at hiding things over the years and I had to clean everything out from under the bed and the dressers and all my other "spots". The only place I could pile it all is the spot we had Bailey's crate in, so I took it down and she hasn't gotten into a single thing she's not supposed to! She's such a good girl and not a single accident! Since they're coming THREE times, every other Tuesday, I just left it all in a heap. No sense putting it back only to take it out again...and again...Tomorrow is our last visit from Buffalo Exterminating and I will be glad to put this all behind me. Since they go through our drawers, every Monday I put all my unmentionables in a garbage bag in my trunk-those I do unpack, though. On Tuesdays, I put all the dog beds and toys in yard bags and stack them in the kitchen. All their bowls and treats go in the fridge. Because we have to be out for four hours, I pick up a gallon of water and we've been going to Emery Park-the kids love it. The first time I took a vacation day because there wasn't enough notice to make arrangements for Curley. No daycare will take a deaf dog. They didn't get to us until 3:30 in the afternoon, so it was a total waste of a day. When they returned on the 14th, I put the girls in daycare and a friend watched Curley for me, but once again, they didn't get to us until 3:00, so tomorrow I'm taking a late lunch and an hour of personal time and I'll be home by 2:40. It just seemed like a waste to spend $50 on daycare, inconvience a friend and still have to spend 3 hours at the park. And when I finally get home at 7:00, I have three loads of laundry to do because they treat all your bedding, then put them in yellow bags to be washed in hot water and dried at the highest temperature for at least an hour. They are exhausting days and tomorrow is set to be the worst as I fly to Burlington, VT for a conference early Wednesday morning. I am looking foward to going, though. It's the cutest little college town. I'm going to bring my camera gear with me because it's right on the St. Lawrence Seaway and since the conference doesn't start until Noon on Thursday, I have plenty of time to go play.
Today is Bailey's first birthday and I can't believe it! She's still the tiniest little thing and everyone just loves her! As you can tell from the photos, she's very attached to Chica. My girls are rarely without each other. And, much to our enjoyment, Chica doesn't seem to mind her bossy little shadow! She brings much laughter and love to our lives, Sue, and no matter how many times we say "Thank you", it will never be enough to express how grateful we are for her! She loves to cuddle when she's tired and insists on a game of fetch every night after dinner. We go for three walks a day and as long as we don't run into any skateboarders, they are usually the most peaceful times of our day. She is a living, breathing alarm clock who somehow knows when it's 5:30, which is when I'm up during the week, but not when it's Saturdays and Sundays...If I take her out, she'll let me go back to sleep until the alarm goes off for Alex at 6:30, but that's the latest I've been able to get her to sleep in. She wants to be with all of us, so she spends her evenings running back and forth between me in the kitchen and her Dad napping on the couch. She's the first one to go to bed at night, but only by a few seconds and so she can get first pick on the bed. We don't know what we'd do without her!
That's about all the news from here. Happy 1st birthday to Bailey Glory, Bentley and their 5 brothers and sisters. We wish them all many more!

I couldn't pick my favorite photos of her, so I'm sorry I'm sending so many. She's just toooooo cute!

All Our Love,

Sarah

PS-I would love your new address so I can send you Christmas cards and such, if you would like to send it to me.

"Miss Sasha" from Toronto, Ontario~

Hello Susan and Mike,

Thank you for posting the photo of your new Southern home. It is comforting to know that your plans are progressing and that you will now be sharing happy times with your beautiful family.

We are happy and relieved to know that every one of the precious High Calling girls and boys have wonderful homes and will continue to give adoring cocker love. We hope you continue to host the blog. It is entertaining to follow each pup's journey, to read about their various geographic circumstances, to hear about the mischief and accomplishments. That has been very special.

Sasha continues to thrive and bring us so much joy.

The photo below was taken this spring in a forest floor of wild trilliums here in Ontario.

And these are her border collie buddies. She loves her frisbee and is working to catch it mid air (when I learn to throw it more accurately.)

May God continue to bless you and your family - also the entire High Calling family.

Love

Update~

Our new home~
To my beloved High Calling Cocker family,

Thank you so much for your love and concern for us.  So many of you have asked how we're doing, so I'll try to give you a short update.  We have found homes for our cockers and have moved to North Carolina.  With my husband not well, I had no choice.  I haven't mentioned it before, but physically, I myself could no longer care for my dogs in the way they should be cared for.  It has done my heart glad to see them in homes where they are being loved and cared for in the best way possible.  Our new home is set up in a way that Mike will be able to use a wheel chair or scooter and not have to walk.  Two of our grown children already live here in NC and I'm hoping a great many of the others will eventually move here too.  The picture above was taken before we had the lawn cut and put in some flowers.  I will post a new picture when I finish making it look pretty.

High Calling Cockers observes Memorial Day~

We take the time to remember our fallen heroes.  May the good Lord bless their memory.  Thank you Lord for our country and for allowing us to live here in the best country in the world.  Thank you Veterans for serving!

"Miss Murphy Brown" ~

Good Afternoon Susan,

Well here is a picture of Tink (We have renamed her Murphy Brown for her cute
little attitude) plus my sister has a dog named Tink and it was getting
confusing with the dogs. Murphy has been with us just over 4 weeks and what a
four weeks it has been. She got off the plane, had a new family, went into heat,
and as soon as that was over she was fixed and had her teeth clean. Whew she
has had a busy month. The picture is her sitting on her own chair in my office
with her pink girly blanket. She is getting to know the ropes here and is loved
by everyone, even Aspen finally. Are you in the middle of moving? I know the
15th was your day. There was many prayer going your way in hopes of success.
Murphy is on her first road trip to our house in Ruby Valley. I hope she loves
it as much as Aspen.

Have a wonderful Weekend and we will always remember those gone before us this
weekend.

"Miss Taffy" from Westbury, New York~

Taffy checking out a turtle that found its way into our back yard. :-)

"Yogi" and "Cooper" from West Virginia~

Susan

Just went onto your website to check in and noted that you are no longer breeding puppies and that you are retiring your older dogs. Bless you as I know this has had to be a difficult decision for you. I know your passion for doing this. So do you still have dogs that need to be placed?

On another note, Cooper and Yogi are so much fun now though we are working on the house training. They hang with each other all the time and just love to run, run, run. Yogi has become a sweet boy and reminds in many ways of my last boy Bo. He likes to lay on my leg (as Bo did) at night. He is a very patient dog with his brother Cooper. Cooper is interesting…he likes to jump and is much more aggressive than Bo. Bo just gives into him when they both want the same toy. LOL But Cooper has such a sweet turn that no wonder Yogi gives up. Any way, just wanted to let you know that I had been on your site and then to give you up an update on my boys.

All the best and just thought I’d check in. Bless you my friend.

Deb
PS I did attach a picture I made about 3 months ago. This is the scene I leave on my way to work. LOL Priceless and I don’t know dog is which!

'Miss Jingles", "Archie" and "Toby" from Fleetwood, Pennsylvania~

Jingles, Archie and Toby await a treat. They are all doing very well and

getting lots of exercise with the warmer weather. Jingles attended her first
Reading Phillies game and did very well. She has a boyfriend named Gaston, the
Great Dane!

I think of you so very often and wonder where you are, still in New York? I
would love if you could pass my email address to Drummer' s mommy so we can
share grooming secrets. Please let me know how you and Mike are doing.
You remain in my prayers.

Love

Kathy

"Miss Emily" and "Cooper" from Quincy, Massachusetts~

Hi Mama Sue,

It's Emily and Cooper from Quincy, MA stopping in to
say hello and hope you are enjoying this beautiful spring.
We sure are Mama Sue, we just love getting past the gate
and into our backyard. We have lots of room to run around
and plenty of places to get out of the sun, if it gets really hot.

My baby brother, Cooper, is quite fond of Mom's tulips and
enjoys "beheading them" much to Mom's sorrow. He also
enjoys uprooting her pansies. I hear tell that I was an angel
at that age (except for a few petunias that I "rearranged"),
Coop on the other hand is an absolute "IMP" - but we love
the little guy to pieces.
Mom just loves seeing the pictures of all your precious "ladies
and gentlemen" in their new homes. She told us they all look
very happy and so that makes you happy. We always want
you to be happy Mama Sue and we sure hope that Papa Mike
is feeling much better.

Love,
Your Little Emily & My Baby Brother, Cooper

"Mikey" and "Friends" from Indian Harbour Beach, Florida~

I love my new home!!!   :')

"Bentley" from Buffalo, New York~

Sue

Hope all is well. I noticed you have not made any changes to blog. You and
Mike are on my mind!

Well next week Bentley will be one year old!!! My husband Tom's birthday is
also the 27th! I was filling the pool today and Bentley found the leaky hose
and used it as an automatic watering fountain! He seems to like even spraying
water. My other dogs used to run and hide. He has brought us so much joy. He
still looks to go to sleep around 8 to 8:30. Even if I have him out at my Mom's,
he will just flop down and try to snooze! He is still stealing my sneakers when
I get home...I think he wants to be with me 24/7 and if he scatters my shoes, I
cant go anywhere without him! :)

Love to all of you!

Kathy and Bentley...Beautiful Buffalo NY!!

"Mikey" from Indian Harbour Beach, Florida~

Mikey made it to his new home with Susan and George in Florida!

Susan loves her new boy, Mikey!

Mikey on left, meeting his son, Bailey on the right...soooo precious!

Hi Sue!

We got home awhile ago and had to do introductions! Mikey is just gorgeous and seems very shy and quiet! They all like each other and are getting to know each other! We- George and I- didn't know we had to go to cargo so we were waiting at the passenger area- but we asked and quickly found out the "deal"! Thanks so much for this precious boy and we promise to take great care of him! He doesn't seem to like cookies! I gave him some of the food you sent as he was suspicious of ours! What has he been been fed- so I can get him used to here! Thanks and we love him already!

Love- Susan

"Miss Bailey Glory" from Buffalo, New York~

Good Morning, Sue!

I think Bailey’s trying to kill me. For some reason my two 11 year olds can make it around the block without any trouble for our afternoon walks, but my 11 month old needs to take THREE breaks on the most pollen-filled block I’ve ever had the misfortune to come across. Took this last night. She turned her head and I sneezed at the last second, so it’s not the cutest shot of her, but still…Will send you a longer update (hahahahaha) with better pictures from our trip to Emery Park last Tuesday when I finish editing them. I hope things are going as well as they can be for you and Mike. You remain in our nightly prayers as always.

Love,

Sarah & Bailey Glory

Are you in need of a puppy???

Good morning!

Sooooo many of you have written expressing a desire to get one of our High Calling Cocker puppies!  I will be very happy to refer you to quality breeders who will not only share their beautiful cocker puppies with you, but will also treat you like family.  I have been so very blessed over the years to have met such wonderful people through my dogs...people who will remain my friends forever. You know who you are.  Please always stay in touch with me.

With much love,

Sue

"Miss Daisy" (Violet) from Lancaster, New York~

Where Daisy likes to take naps.

"Miss Angel Face" from Lockport, New York~

Susan,

I took Angel outside yesterday to "perform" for you. Unfortunately the grass needed cutting so it was hard going for her...nonetheless, she is driven to show you how well she "ball handles."

I also included a still picture. Hope you enjoy viewing the video. She is a "wild woman" and a great example of the high class cocker she is. By the way, she is due for a grooming...obviously!!

"Drummer Boy" from Grand Junction, Colorado~

Dearest Sue,

I'm so glad that you are finding special homes for your beloved dogs. That must
be so hard on you, yet a relief to know that they are all in good homes
and that you can now focus on your move and taking care of your wonderful
husband.

I've attached a couple of pictures of Drummer for you. One was from a couple
of weeks ago when we got 4 inches of very wet snow. Drummer has "snowballs"
all over his ears, feet, and tummy!

The second and third pictures are ones that I took last fall. They were
beautiful shots, except that the color of his coat was too washed out. He's
more "golden" in color than the pictures show.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Much love,

Mary :o)
