Admirals "Spruance" and "Halsey" from Morristown, New Jersey~

"Halsey" and "Spruance"
Hello Sue,

I just wanted to let you know that Admiral’s Spruance and Halsey are doing so well. They are so big and it’s hard to believe how tiny there were when we picked them up from you in Syracuse. They are such beloved members of the family and have the loveliest little personalities. Spruance is lively and precocious and Halsey is laid back and loves to cuddle and give puppy hugs. Spruance is still smaller that Halsey, but no less dear. He is 17 pounds and Halsey is just about 23. Whenever we are out and about with the boys, we get so many compliments on how beautiful they are. They really are smashing to see together.
Both boys recently graduated from level 3 training and are proficient at loose leash walking, heal, and stay. We are so thrilled! We started foundational agility and they seem to really like the tunnels and the see-saw. They love the big dog park and their swimming lessons too. I have attached a picture of the Spruance (right) and Halsey (left) on their first birthday on June 14.

Hope you and all of your puppies are doing well, healthy, happy.

With Best Regards,
Ann-Casey

"Aspen" from Sparks, Nevada~

Good Morning Susan,

It has been awhile since Aspen & I have checked in, but we are still following from afar. All the new little ones are adorable. I just wanted to send you this picture of Aspen. She was helping me fold all the warm towels from the dryer. She likes the warm dryer items. It doesn’t matter what it is, she just likes the warm clothes. She is a funny little girl and still makes me laugh every day. She has become a great companion for my Mother-in-law during the day. The dogs go to her house everyday while we work and it gets her up in the morning, and helps her keep track of the days and her medications. On the weekends she doesn’t do so well, so then it is our turn. So while we can Aspen will be her daily reminder and keep her on track. She just turned 88 this month and still insists she live by herself. I hope all is well with you. I see the puppies are finding homes again as fast as they are born. So many homes that will be as blessed as we were with Aspen.

Thinking of you fondly,

Aspen & Valeri

Cosby enjoying his new look after being groomed.  He loves long joy rides~!

Good night Sue,

Just sending some pictures from this afternoon of Cosby. I had a great day on the mail rt today and got home earlier than I expected, so Clay made an appt today while I was on the route to Petsmart. We needed to go to Dothan anyway so we decided to take Cosby with us and get him freshened back up. What a loved and spoiled baby we have. Cosby loves the 1hr drive to Dothan because all the scenery, so many beautiful cotton fields and farmland, especially the moo moos..lol the cows. We thank you again for the love you always put into your cockers. Everytime we visit them, they are always oohing and ahhing at Cosby. Thank you for Cosby, he is now just turned 10 months old, and my son, Caleb, just turned 11 yrs. old last Sat. Caleb also went to Lego Land with his grandparents, Clay's mom and stepdad, with Caleb's cousin, Aidan too. I pray you all have a great summer, and I'm so excited to see all these new forever homes for Snuggie's litter, which is Cosby's beautiful mommie...who he looks like I think, and for Crystal's beautiful litter, and so happy that Miss Flower is doing well and the puppy is beautiful that she produced too. Thank you again for all the hard work you put into breeding the best American Cocker Spaniel's in the universe!!!  LOL It shows!!!!

Much love,

Sherry and Family

"Shane" from Oyster Bay, New York~

Hi Susan:

Shane is doing great! He is two and a half years old now and my little
boy. At night he sleeps on the bed, and sometimes likes to lay all his
weight across my hips and get me in a wrestling hold. I gradually slide
him over from time to time.
He had a haircut recently which was a bit too close, but I suppose it is
best for the summer here on Long Island. And tomorrow it is supposed to
be 90 degrees.
Shane doesn't seem to like the hot weather or the rain too much.
He is absolutely crazy for chasing balls!

"Chanel" from Westlake, Ohio~

Hi Susan,

I will give them Chanel’s papers that you gave us and I will give her your name and e-mail address so they can refer people to you. When we first took Chanel to them for training they observed her and the first thing they said was you didn’t get that dog from around here and I said no. They told us that most of the cockers they saw and worked with had serious emotional problems. They did comment that they had not seen a cocker like Chanel in a long time. They approached me about where we got her so they could refer people to you. I will take what I have and if I need anything else I will let you know!!!! She trains so easily and is so smart. We have taken her to a garden center to get our annuals and she rides on the cart and just lays there and never tries to get off the cart. No one could believe she was 10 months old at the time. We were only going to be there for 15 minutes and it took us probably an hour and a half to get out of the place because everyone was amazed that she just laid there on the cart and because she is simply beautiful.

The most beautiful little girl in the world is our Chanel!!!! We thank you.

"Chanel" from Westlake, Ohio~

Hi Susan,
How are you? I know it has been a long time since we spoke. We adopted one of your puppies last year. Chanel is coming up on her first birthday June 28, 2011. She is the perfect dog and absolutely beautiful. She has been a wonderful flying companion and enjoys boating. Everyone loves her. Chanel has been training with North Coast K-9 in Monroeville, Ohio. Nick & Tammy have been training dogs for over 30 years. They breed, train, board, groom and access dogs. They train dogs for police departments and prisons. They are wonderful people and have a love and compassion for all dogs. They told us they have seen many cockers that have not been properly bred. They have not seen a cocker like Chanel in a long time. Her temperament, breeding, overall gentleness, and beauty!!! I wanted to let you know that they have asked for Chanel’s breeding papers so they can refer people to you. Chanel goes to training classes every Saturday. We have missed a few Saturdays but will continue her training classes.

We are not ready at this point but I would love to adopt another cocker so Chanel has a playmate!!!! Do you also have black cockers?

I hope all is well with you and your family both two legged as well as four legged.

Happy Birthday, Sparky...from Astoria, Illinois~

Hello Mama Sue, and all my High Calling Cocker Family!

Well today is the first day of Summer, and also another important day. It is my fourth birtday! It is hard to believe I am four years old. Really hot today here, Mama Sue, and you know my mommy said that she would take me to get some ice cream, but since it was so hot we would go later. That is okay with me because I still got some gravy bones, and lamb chop squeaky toy. Still love toys, paper, socks, anything to chew. Never a dull moment with me, I love entertaining! My mommy says she will never forget the day I born, and was so thankful that you took such good care of me, and let me come here to live because you knew that is what God had planned for me. Mama Sue, I know you have been sad because my doggy mommy is no longer with you. I was so sad too, because I know she was the best mommy a puppy could have, and I hope her goodness is in me, and of course thankful for my daddy Cubby. Will always love mommy Daisy.I love all of my High Calling Cockers family. Well just want to tell you about my birthday, and I that Iove you so much for, and tell all the family Hi, from Sparky. Mommy said she hopes to send better photos later, but just wanted you to see that I had a good birthday!

Love, Hugs, and sweet doggy kisses from Sparky!

"Miss Bella" and "Miss Bethany" from Tuckasegee, North Carolina~

Good Morning Sue,
Wow! I'm so sorry I haven't written in so long but I had a very bad accident at home and it has taken me all this time to recover. I fell in my kitchen with my head hitting my oak table, then the chair, then my head bounced twice on my tile floor. I was unconscious for at least two hours. Bella was amazing as was little Bethany. Bella did what a Therapy Dog is trained to do she tried everything to get a response from me and she never left me. Bethany stayed close by but let big sister do her thing. I woke to Bella's touch and many warm wet kisses.

Needless to say there wasn't a spot that wasn't bruised, I ended up with a severe concussion, my doctor wanted me in the hospital but of course I didn't want to go. He finally said I could stay at home if I remained in bed or my recliner and didn't do anything. Truly, I couldn't have done anything if I had wanted too! I couldn't remember phone numbers, emails, and the list went on and on. It was so strange I knew what the phone was but I didn't even know what 911 meant! Everyone has asked why didn't you call 911 after you came too it was because I didn't know what it was for. It was like someone mixed up the computer deck and it is just now beginning to get back in order.

My doctor and others have suggested that I train Bella to dial 911. She would be great but I don't know how to do that and I don't know of anyone in our area who trains dogs for that skill. Bethany on the other hand would be calling every chance she could just to get extra attention and possibly more treats ! Even if I had one of the alert pendants I probably wouldn't have know to use it. This is the drawback to being single.

My family has suggested I need to get a bit more serious about marriage! I've told them if God has someone for me he will bring us together!

I hope you and all are well. Please let me know. I pray for you and think of you daily! I'll send new photos soon.

Cherrie, Bella and Bethany.

"Miss Sasha" from Toronto, Ontario, Canada~

Hello Susan and Mike,

It is Sasha’s mum here. I have a quiet moment since Sasha is being spayed today so I thought we would check in.

As you can see, Sasha has been growing into a beautiful young lady. Today she is six months old, 17 pounds, sweet, healthy and incredibly agile. We are envious! (I suspect that her staircase leaps and ball chases are Canine Olympics material.) And I have never heard the word “adorable” as often as I have during the last 4 months. It seems that word was specially invented for her.

Sasha’s absolute favourite treat is an ice cube. Perhaps it eases her gums as the new teeth come in. Every time she hears the ice machine, she races to the fridge for her very own cube.

Sasha loves her toys too – lots of tennis balls and soft plush stuffed things with hidden “squeakers”. Of course, she still adores the original pink blanket which goes everywhere with her.

We both really enjoy seeing the stories and photos about her siblings and all the other litters. I cannot imagine our home without this dear little being who has brought such joy and love with her. Thank you again to all of you at High Calling Cockers.

Best wishes, Pat

"Miss Mitzi" from Henrietta, New York~

Dear Mama Sue,

Just dropping by to say hello and show you what a big girl I am! Its been a while but I stay busy with my Family and the days fly by.

Also my Mom needed a new camera and couldn't take pics for awhile.

I am 2-1/2 now as you know. I have a wonderful life but will always remember and love you and my Cocker Family,

My little blankie goes to bed with me every nite and I scrunch it up and make a pillow of it.

Everyone who meets me says I am the most beautiful and gentle girl they have seen, I know that is because of your wonderful breeding and care.

Give our love to all. Blessings to you and your Family.

Love Mitzi

Happy Birthday, Biscuit from Harriman, Tennessee~

Dear Mama Sue:

I am one year's old today so my dad took my "birthday" picture outside on the deck. My mom says that I'm the most beautiful, lovable, and playful Cocker Spaniel she's ever owned! I think that I am especially pretty since I have a buff color T-Zone on my face and down my back. Of course, all of your puppies are so precious and adorable!

Best Wishes Always,

Baby Biscuit

Ranger from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas~

Hi Sue,

Our little Ranger sure is a happy little boy!

My husband brought him to my fifth-grade classroom one day the last week of school for a visit. He LOVED all the kids! He had to make the rounds to each one and get some pets. I noticed some kids hanging back a little, but I watched as he made sure he greeted every single kid. All the time his little tail was wagging a mile a minute and he had a HUGE grin on his face! He's going to be a GREAT Reading Therapy dog because he loves people so much!

He also loves playing (pestering) with his big lab sister, Heidi. We bought a kiddie pool the other day, and he just couldn't figure out why Heidi was jumping in and out and splashing up a storm. He just watched and watched. Later, I watched as he went over to the pool by himself and carefully, one foot at a time, waded into the little pool. Then gave me a look, like, "Look at, me, Mom!" So CUTE!

Now that school is out, we're looking forward to some more camping trips. Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Love, Kaynella and Ranger
